Prime Steak House Set To Open

Prime Steak House has closed their Geddes St location and is set to open in the historic Gridley Building in Hanover Square in "6 to 8 weeks". Operator Dann Klamm said Prime will remain focused on steaks and will feature a bigger menu and remain open for both lunch and dinner.

More info can be found at the Syracuse.com article here.

Positive news. I've always loved that location. And it's nice to see Hanover Square getting busy again.

For those interested, World Lounge & Martini Bar reopens their spot in Hanover Square on Thursday, October 29th.

The city is running a Dinner With the Masters Dining Promotion which will run October 9th to January 10th. Restaurants include: Ale 'N Angus Pub, Al's Wine & Whiskey Bar (wine & cheese), Anthony's Pasta Bar, bc Restaurant, Bistro Elephant, Black Olive, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, Empire Brewing Co, Kitty Hoyne's Irish Pub, Lemon Grass, The Mission, Opus Restaurant & Lounge, Pascale Wine Bar & Restaurant, Pastabilities, PJ's Pub & Grill, Syracuse Suds Factory, and Sakana-Ya Sushi Bar. Sounds like a good deal to me. I'm curious as to what Dino's 3 course meal is.

Restaurant Closings: Dante & Goodfella's Pizzeria

According to the syracuse.com dining forum, Dante has closed. Also, I haven't been Downtown in a week or so, but a friend of mine has informed me that Goodfella's Pizzeria has closed as well.

Strange. Two more Armory Square places. And it adds to the growing list of places calling it quits: Pascale (as of January 2010), Ambrosia, Ohm, RazzBarry... though it isn't all bad news - Urban Outfitters plans a move to Walton Street soon. At any rate, I don't know if this is all due to the economy, high rents and taxes, or just a coincidence, but it's a shame none the less.

I suppose this is one of the more difficult things in running a dining blog: seeing restaurants and people you like go away.
